In this still image from ‘Animal Math’, our nameless heroine dreams that she stands on the shore in the shadow of an ancient water god. Injured and near death, He receives a moment of comfort from the small girl. Featuring one of three elemental beings which recur in the girl’s visions, this shot from the film juxtaposes the tragic creature against a brooding green sky and twisting, purple shadowed rock formations to create an image of surreal melancholy. The original art was created with colored pencil and watercolor.
